I’ve been quite absent, but there’s definitely good reason. I barely have five minutes day on the computer (if that), but I’m hoping that will change soon. Really, it’s just wishful thinking that Holden will be an easier baby, that Kasen will be less defiant, and that I’ll actually get a full night’s sleep one of these months and I’ll feel like a real person again. Whew, to say that it’s been tough lately is a HUGE understatement, but I’m hanging in there and people keep telling me that it gets better. I *think* I believe them. LOL I’m not sure if they mean better in a few months, a few years, or better when they leave for college.
Whatever they mean, better sounds good at any time. I’m ready.
On another note, Kasen started Mother’s Day Out on Tuesday. We were BOTH ready! LOL I so remember her first MDO two years ago when I was in tears as I drove off. Fast forward to this year, I don’t think Kasen could get in the room fast enough and as much as I love our little pumpkin, I felt a sigh of relief when she entered those doors as well. She has had one rough summer and it was definitely time for her to get some structure back in her life. Even though she loves Holden more than anything, I know it was good for her to be away from his crying all day. I think it’s starting to get to her. I understand. I also couldn’t wait to pick her up both days either.
Soooo, after I dropped Kasen off this morning for her Mother’s Day Out program (which is two days a week), I got Holden back in the car and we headed for Babies R Us in Dallas - the new and improved one. I tried to move as quickly as possible to keep him from crying. I jiggled the cart, held the soother in his mouth, talked to him, sang to him, and it was going pretty well. I grabbed some more swaddle blankets, pacifiers, bottle parts, baby wash cloths, a zippered sleeper (the best kind), and a new floor activity gym. Well, after all that, AND changing a dirty diaper, we were ready to go. BTW, he’s a pro, every.single.time I walk in the store with him, he has to have a dirty diaper change. It’s a conspiracy I tell ya’. LOL After getting the goods, I headed as fast as I could to the checkout, hoping I could get home and still get a few things done before it was time to pick up Kasen. Oh yeah, got NOTHING done. Fed, rocked, cuddled, and tried to soothe Holden the entire time. Anyway, the point of my story is that I get to the checkout counter and they tell me “cash only” - the credit/debit cards don’t work. Ugh!! I said, “Seriously?” ”Oh yeah, they told me, it’s a national problem, they’re all down.” I said, “I don’t carry cash. Can’t you write down the number, or use the old fashioned thingie where you swipe the card on it and then write stuff down?” They proceeded to tell me how they couldn’t do this and I proceeded to tell them that there are some stores that actually still do this, and then, totally exasperated, I told them that I cannot come back. It was a HUGE undertaking to get to the store, it’s not that close to my house, I finally don’t have my spunky Kasen with me, who tends to STILL run at four years old in the other direction. Ack!! I asked them to get the manager while I jiggled the cart to get Holden to stop screaming. Seriously, do not do that to a sleep deprived, anxious mother with an empty stomach, who is losing her mind because her child won’t stop crying and time is not on her side. There was an expectant mother behind me telling me she understood, but I couldn’t help but think she was terrified of what was in store for her. Oh well, nothing like seeing the real thing. The end of the story is that the manager came over, brought the old credit card swiper and everything worked out fine . . . . unless my credit card bill shows up with a $1,000.00 tab. It’s yet to be determined.
It’s now 7:00 p.m., baby is swaddled, FINALLY sleeping, Kasen is having quiet time and if that’s all that happens today, I will consider myself EXTREMELY lucky!
Here’s Little Dude - you would never know he gives us a run for our money, would you?!
A special thanks to Katy for this adorable outfit. Isn’t he precious?????

See ya’ later . . . .maybe much later! It’s all up to this Kasen and Holden - wish me luck!!
